12/31/2023 0 Comments Bible study book for couplesIt’s now been over a year of using this method and it’s been great! But I’ll let John MacArthur tell you about it (because he says it so much better than I ever could). He has a small, simple little book called How to Study the Bible. And within, he details the Bible study method that he’s been using for years that has led to so much depth in his own study.Īnd the method seemed straightforward enough, so Jason and I decided to take the plunge last July and try it out. I found this particular method from pastor and Bible teacher, John MacArthur. And no, I did not make up this method, I’m simply gleaning wisdom from far wiser people than myself. Huh? I know it sounds weird, but hang in there with me, it’s a brilliantly simple method that has brought so much depth to our Bible study this last year. Simply put, our Bible study method is to read a book of the Bible, every day for 30 days. So today I wanted to break down that method for you and give you some resources for learning more and diving in deeper. (Later this week I’ll be sharing some different methods for you as well in case this one doesn’t work for you.) And while there are many different methods or styles you could use, I’ve found this one very easy to follow as a busy (and often exhausted) homemaker. We’ve been loving this simple Bible study method and how it’s brought such a depth and richness to our Bible study and reading.Īnd since I’ve been sharing about this method in the free course, hundreds of women have started using this method also. In that lesson, I share the simple Bible study method that Jason and I have been using for over a year now. In lesson #3, I cover the daily habit of Bible reading. I created a free course this year focused on finding more JOY in your home, your life, and your relationship with God. 12/31/2023 0 Comments Spike lee knicks fan dick“I got drug out and talked about like I was a person laying in the street.” He was approached by security soon after arriving and began to scuffle with them before he was removed from his seat and arrested. Watching Lee, the Oscar-winning writer-director, go through another dust-up had Oakley feeling as if he was in some sort of sequel to He Got (Kicked Out of The) Game. The wild scene at MSG was enough to trigger Oakley, who had his spat in 2017 when he was arrested after an altercation with security officials. “You want to arrest me like Charles Oakley?” Lee shouted at security Monday night. 12/31/2023 0 Comments Deep delta wavesWhereas beta activity is considered the conscious mind, theta is the sub-conscious mind. Our brains produce theta waves in the frequency range of 4-8 Hz. The more you produce alpha brainwaves during ordinary states of awareness, the easier it is for you to access deeper meditative states.Īlpha serves as a bridge between beta and theta brainwaves and allows the conscious mind access to the experiences of the subconscious and unconscious Theta Brain Waves When your brain produces alpha frequencies, you experience a pleasant, comfortable, relaxed yet wakeful state of awareness that is stress free and euphoric. Or try day dreaming or engaging in deep introspection.īetter yet, give Synchronicity® alpha technology soundtracks a try.Īlpha is mostly produced by the brain in bursts, but meditators (especially if they are advanced) often produce long “trains” of alpha waves. If you are a thinking type and perpetually mental in your focus, you can bring balance and relaxation to your experience by emphasizing alpha brainwaves (8-12.5 Hz).ĭo this by focusing the mind-as in concentration-or by sitting or reclining with your eyes closed. Whereas beta represents arousal, alpha represents relaxation. ![]() During this time your brain can access subconscious and unconscious databases thanks to an increased awareness that comes with meditation.īrainwave patterns of advanced meditators often show a bulge in this area. When the parts of the brain that coordinate touch and gross motor movements (called the sensorimotor cortex) are less active-like when you are meditating-low beta increases. Low beta (13-15.5 Hz) is sometimes given its own category and called SMR (Sensorimotor Rhythm). However, this beta dominant world is a stressful external place, full of activity and information.Įxcess beta causes significant problems like serious muscle tension, raised blood pressure and increased anxiety. You need beta to function in the world, to think logically, solve problems and confront whatever is happening out there. ![]() It reflects the active thought processes that you experience from day-to-day. Beta's frequency varies from about 14 to 35 Hz.īeta is your normal thinking state. Beta brain waves have a relatively low amplitude and are one of the fastest of the five types of brain waves. Your brain generates beta waves when it is actively engaged in mental activities. These patterns also reveal if you are a meditator and can indicate how long you have had a meditation practice. Your thoughts, emotions and behaviors correspond to different brain wave patterns. The electrical impulses produce measurable waves and we can view their patterns using equipment called a brain monitor. These neurons communicate with each other using electrical impulses generated by neurotransmitters, which are brain chemicals. Your brain is an organ that contains billions of neurons. No matter what meditation style you prefer, if you are consistent, your brain wave patterns will change and you will begin to benefit from all that meditation has to offer.Īnd if you use Synchronicity’s High-Tech Meditation® soundtracks, you will find these changes occur a lot faster-in fact four times faster-than if you choose more traditional styles of meditation. Or you can also compare your brain map with that of a non-meditator to see the difference meditation makes. You can view proof of these changes in brain maps, where you can see shifts in your brain wave patterns over time. ![]() ![]() Research shows that meditation changes brain waves, and the longer you practice the bigger the change. Maybe you asked yourself, “What are brain waves all about? Or, “How can they help me understand meditation?” Have you encountered the terms alpha, theta, delta, gamma and beta in relation to brain waves and meditation? 12/30/2023 0 Comments Ground sloth predators![]() They are generally solitary and do not tend to travel far. Pygmy three-toed sloths are mainly arboreal, although they can walk on the ground and also swim. ![]() Other species of sloths have been known to live 30 to 40 years in captivity. Little information is known at this time about the lifespan or longevity for Bradypus pygmaeus. Details of parental care are not reported for pygmy three-toed sloths, but related species care for their young for up to 6 months. pygmaeus is not known.įemale pygmy three-toed sloths invest heavily in young through gestation and lactation, as do females in other sloth species. Breeding interval A close relative, Bradypus torquatus, breeds once yearly, but the breeding interval for B.gonochoric/gonochoristic/dioecious (sexes separate). The interbirth interval is 1 year for maned sloths. One infant is born after a gestation period of 6 months. Births occur from February to April, marking the end to the wet season and start of the dry season. They copulate towards the end of the dry season and early wet season, which occurs from August through October, which results in gestation and lactation occurring during times of plenty of food. Bradypus torquatus has been studied more extensively. Reproduction in Bradypus pygmaeus has not been researched enough to report details. However, in other Bradypus species, there is evidence that males compete for access to mating opportunities with receptive females. There is little information on the Bradypus pygmaeus mating system. ( Anderson and Handley, 2001 Hayssen, 2008) Like other sloths, body temperature regulation is likely to be imperfect, making them heterothermic. Bradypus pygmaeus also have large external auditory meatus. The zygomatic arch is incomplete with slim roots, and the process of the jugal descends long and thin. The skull is small in comparison to other closely related species, lacks foramina in the anterodorsal nasopharynx, and doesn't have pterygoid sinuses that are inflated. On the bottom jaw there are 8 teeth 2 anterior chisel-shaped, and 6 molariform teeth. Pygmy three-toed sloths have in total 18 teeth, 10 from the upper jaw which consists of 2 anterior chisel-shaped teeth and 8 molariform teeth. ![]() Males differ in that they have a dorsal ginger speculum with fuzzy hair following the margin. The throat is brown-gray and the dorsum is speckled and has a dark mid-sagittal stripe. The hair on the head and shoulders is long and bushy, distinctive against the shorter facial hair and making it look as if these sloths have a hood. Clay-orange fur covers the face, starting underneath the dark eye circles. Pygmy three-toed sloths have buff-colored faces with dark circles that surround the eye and go outwards to their temples. Lala adds: "That's a very strong pain that feels like something's ripping inside of you. That causes an intensely painful tearing chest pain that can radiate to the back, Blankstein says. You can even have a tear in the aorta, the largest blood vessel in your body, which carries blood from the heart to the rest of the body, Lala explains. "It can be worse when you're lying down or when you're taking deep breaths." Coronary artery dissectionĪ coronary artery dissection is a rare but serious condition that can cause severe chest pain when one of your arteries develops a tear. "That can cause a sharp chest pain that can also spread to your left arm or shoulder," Lala says. This condition occurs when the tissue lining the heart, the pericardium, becomes inflamed, which sometimes happens as a complication of a viral infection. ![]() If the chest discomfort is positional - meaning that it feels better when you sit up or lie down - then it might be related to pericarditis, Blankstein says. Chest pain causes that aren't a heart attack Pericarditis If someone with chest pain also has known risk factors for a heart attack (such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, or smoking), "the likelier it is that it could be a heart attack or this pain could be due to a blockage in the heart arteries," Martin explains. Seth Martin, cardiologist and associate professor of medicine at Johns Hopkins Hospital, tells. "It's (also) worth thinking about who the person is that's having the chest pain," Dr. In particular, women can have excessive sweating, vomiting or nausea, Blankstein says. Some people might have other symptoms along with chest discomfort that can signal a heart attack. The pain might also radiate to the shoulder, neck or jaw areas. It's also typically persistent, and it doesn't change when you switch your position, Blankstein says. This guide shows each of these features in each of Spark’s supported languages. Spark supports two types of shared variables: broadcast variables, which can be used to cache a value in memory on all nodes, and accumulators, which are variables that are only “added” to, such as counters and sums. Sometimes, a variable needs to be shared across tasks, or between tasks and the driver program. By default, when Spark runs a function in parallel as a set of tasks on different nodes, it ships a copy of each variable used in the function to each task. Finally, RDDs automatically recover from node failures.Ī second abstraction in Spark is shared variables that can be used in parallel operations. Users may also ask Spark to persist an RDD in memory, allowing it to be reused efficiently across parallel operations. RDDs are created by starting with a file in the Hadoop file system (or any other Hadoop-supported file system), or an existing Scala collection in the driver program, and transforming it. The main abstraction Spark provides is a resilient distributed dataset (RDD), which is a collection of elements partitioned across the nodes of the cluster that can be operated on in parallel. At a high level, every Spark application consists of a driver program that runs the user’s main function and executes various parallel operations on a cluster. 12/30/2023 0 Comments Quickbookslinks![]() QuickBooks Online Free 30-day Trial Offer Terms: First thirty (30) days of subscription to the QuickBooks Products, starting from the date of enrollment is free.
